Austa is a red and white female cattle dog mix. She is about 2 1/2 years old and weighs in at about 32 lbs. Austa is crate trained and rides well in the car. Austa is smart as a whip and knows her obedience commands. She is very playful, likes to play fetch, and self entertains with her toys. She also is socialized with other dogs. Austa appears to be housebroken. Austa prefers women to men, as she sometimes reacts to men. We are not sure what the triggers are.
Although Austa is a mix, she is very Cattle Dog like and exhibits many of the breed's traits. Typical of the Cattle Dog heritage, Austa is stubborn, loyal to her person and, eager to learn. The best suited home for Austa, is one with Cattle Dog experience with no kids. An active adult home is recommended that will provide the physical exercise and mental stimulation. This is a dog that will get bored easily if not channeled properly. She loves activity in her life and enjoys walks and hikes. Austa needs clear, concise, and consistent direction. Austa will seize the alpha position with her person if not given proper direction.
If you are interested in Austa, please fill out an adoption application through BCIN at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html. The application will be forwarded to Austa's owner for consideration.
