BESS
Bess
Bess is an affectionate 3-4 year-old female traditional black & white purebred semi-rough coated Border Collie.  She is a velcro dog and she desires to forge a tight bond with her human family.  She really wants to please her foster mom and will cuddle right next to you on the couch.  Bess's activity and energy level is medium and she would be great for the first time BC owner.  She gets along very well with other dogs (even smaller ones) and loves to chase them when she plays.  She could be placed as an only dog, but she enjoys the socialization of being with other dogs at the dog park or having doggie play dates.

Bess is crate trained and never has had a potty accident in the crate, even when asked to "hold it" for long periods of time.  I assume she is either housebroken or can easily learn (crate training without potty accidents is 75% there).  A home without cats is recommended, as she appears to be bothered by them and by the squiirrels in the park.  She walks well on a leash and rides well in the car.  Bess knows basic commands and appears to have good recall.  She has been around older children and she was fine with them (9 years and above).  She barks appropriately (i.e. a stranger approaching while walking).  She can whine when she wants attention, but she does settle down after a couple of minutes--don't confuse this with separation anxiety.  Bess is a lovely dog and would make be a fine and loyal family canine companion.

Fiona is being fostered in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County.
