Welcome!
DEE-LICIOUS
Dee-licious
Dee-Licious is an 8-month-old absolutely adorable Spaniel/Long Haired Chihuahua mix 12 lb. male.  With lovely long silky white coat, tan markings and sparkly green eyes, Dee-Licious is a real looker.  We bailed him from the Carson Shelter while there evaluating Buck the Aussie.

Dee-Licious absolutely adores people - men, woman and children alike.  While he loves kids, we have learned that he can become irritated by the exuberance of the little ones (age 5 and below).  When Dee turned around 7 months old, he began to look at the little ones as part of his "pack".  When he finds their loudness and energy to be "irritating", and wants nothing more to do with them, he will seek solace with his "larger" humans.  For this reason we are recommending a home for Dee-Licous with children age 8 and above.

Not only is this adolescent sweet and smart as heck, he's not a yapper.  He will sometimes bark in public - when he sees new dogs, some new situations or someone comes up to your car - but at home, he's very quiet.  He rides in the car extremely well and is a wonderful co-pilot.  He'll even ride on your shoulders if you let him.  He crates up very well, but doesn't really need a crate.  He likes/needs chew toys and is not destructive (but seeing how he still is under a year, caution with personal items should be taken).  He walks great on leash and follows voice commands better than my Border Collies do.  While we really don't recommend letting a dog off leash until you are absolutely sure he will not run off, all indicators show that Dee-Licious would do great off leash.

Dee-Licious is completely potty trained and if you want to sleep in late on the weekends, he is happy to slumber away the hours with you.  He is an incredible lap dog who can be independent but also absolutely relishes his time with his humans.  He loves to be near you and sit on your lap while you work on your computer, watch t.v. or just visit with your family.  He gets along with other dogs extremely well.  Taking naps and sleeping with Dee-Licious is a true pleasure and he has often been "fought" over by his foster family.

Dee-Licious is the best live stuffed animal around.  He loves to sit with his foster brothers Tookie and Guinness in front of my living room window, hanging his head out the open window with his brothers, sniffing the air and checking out the neighborhood.  He has not been tested cats, but my guess is he would be fine.  He is fine with my parrot.  Dee-Licious loves to play with other young dogs (and does pretty much silently).  His favorite pal is my 11 year old alpha Border Collie Jake.  They are quite smitten with each other.  He is an excellent bather and loves ice cubes.  Dee-Licious is being fostered in Torrance, California.
Dee-licious is a 6-month-old absolutely adorable male Spaniel/Long Haired Chihuahua mix.  With a lovely white coat, tan markings and sparkly green eyes, Dee-Licious is a real looker.  We bailed him from the Carson Shelter while there evaluating Buck the Aussie.  Not only is this pup sweet and smart as heck, he is a minimal barker.  You can crate him, put him in a room by himself, outside, etc. and he will not whine, cry or bark.  When he plays with his tiny foster brother Ali, the Min Pin, they rustle and tussle, usually silently.  Both dogs do bark when I first get home, but it's no big deal and they quiet down in a few minutes.  They seem to mostly be doing it as they want their foster mom's attention first before the dogs that actually are full time residents!

Dee-Licious follows voice commands excellently and loves, loves people, especially little kids.  He is fine with every dog he meets and due to the fact that he is still a puppy, would more than likely acclimate to a feline home (but would need to be tested of course).  He spends his days doing a variety of things, is not needy at all, but loves to snuggle up and cuddle with you and of course, take a nap with you.  If you want him to sleep in a crate, he's fine with that too.  He's starting to become a little bit of a chewer, but not bad at all (way better than most puppies).  When I first got him, he seemed to be quite potty trained (spent hours in the bathroom with no accidents at all), then regressed some, but both he and Ali seem to becoming quite the male whizzers outside, marking everything in sight.  Neither will ask to go outside, so hourly visits to the great outdoors is a must for both these dogs as they are still puppies and need to relieve themselves pretty much hourly.  Both sleep through the night (and will even sleep in late with you on the weekends), without having an accident or wanting to get up with the chickens.  As you can tell, as their foster mom, I think both of these little gems are quite wonderful.  Although still very much a puppy, he's also very easy to walk on a leash.

Dee-Licious's adopters must be committed to working with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents.  As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must.  This will ensure that you have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well adjusted adult dog in your family.
