These adorable female Border Collie mixed littermates are 8 weeks old as of 6-24-08, per the shelter. These little girls were just shy of being old enough for the shelter to be required to hold by CA state law. As a result, they were scheduled to be euthanized the same day they arrived, and the AC officers begged us to take them. They were not dumped at the shelter, but in a vacant lot to fend for themselves. Such a sad fate awaited them had they not been found by animal control or entered into BCIN's rescue program. They were listed as Border Collies, but they are certainly mixes. Both are smooth coated and each pup has one strikingly blue eye and one brown eye.
These puppies would be perfect for first time BC owners who desire the wonderful BC traits without the intensity of the BC breed, which will be tempered in a mix. It is hard to predict what temperaments these puppies will have as adults. There are so many factors involved, including how they are raised. So far, these littermates are easy going and mellow pups by BC standards. Both should mature into wonderful canine companions with the proper guidance and loving homes. If you are new to the breed, a mix is a great introduction and what a wonderful opportunity to start with a young pup.
Their adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents. As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well adjusted adult dog in your family.
Their adopters will be required to complete their series of puppy vaccinations, including rabies. In addition to their adoption fee, a refundable deposit is required to secure their sterilization in accordance with state law. | | |
