Welcome!
HAILEY
Hailey
Say hello to Hailey! She is just 1 years old, a traditional black and white border collie with a semi rough coat. Hailey came into rescue with her mom Lila and they were owner surrenders to the shelter. Hailey is a little shy at first, but warms right up to you. She is a smaller border collie only about 30 lbs. Hailey is quite energetic, and she still has a lot of puppy in her, which is appropriate for her age. She should settle down as she matures. She will need appropriate chew toys to keep her occupied.

Hailey still needs a little direction on manners and her foster home is working on that. She is a bit of a trash digger, so extra care should be given to putting that away. Although her foster home is working on her manners, Hailey, for the most part, is very well behaved and doesn’t jump up on you. She is very gentle and needs a gentle hand, as well. She is responding to positive reinforcement training. Hailey is well socialized other dogs, both male and female, and we are not sure about cats. She can be on only dog or with other dogs. She is housebroken and sleeps on her bed all night. She is good on a leash and we are starting to work on basic commands. She is very biddable and we should have those down quickly.

Hailey is super smart pup and like to collect toys, shoes, and anything else and put it on her bed. She is a little bit of a collector. She still likes to chew, so the more chew toys the better. She is a border collie all the way through, as she follows you in every room and wants to be with her human. Loud noises still scare her a bit, but once she feels secure, that should will go away. Daily exercise and mental stimulation is a must for Hailey to keep her balanced. Once she gets her exercise, she is really laid back and will just hang out.

The best suited home for Hailey is one who understands the destruction and energy associated with raising an adolescent young dog. Socialization and obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well-adjusted adult dog in your family. Hailey can still be a bit timid, so her new home will be need to be patient and help her build her confidence so that she can blossom out and be the awesome dog that we see in her. Hailey will continue thrive with continued training, and mental and physical exercise will keep her from being destructive. She is truly a sweet heart and is so loving.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
