HENRY |
|
Meet Henry. Henry is an exuberant 1 ½ to 2 year old male Border Collie mix, most likely with Flat Coat Retriever. Henry is a big dog and weighs about 65 lbs. Henry is strong on the leash and requires a strong handler when working with him on a leash. He does respond very well to a dominant handling style. Henry is sweet, however, at times he can be a bit aloof and independent. Henry likes being with his person and exhibits a tiny amount of separation anxiety. Henry can climb and jump over a chain link fence. Fencing should be of solid construction that is 6 feet. He does this because he wants to be with his person. Henry does make great eye contact, responds well to verbal and non-verbal commands.
Henry has a VERY energetic play style and wants very much to interact with other dogs playfully. He is still just a big puppy. Sometimes his energy can be too much, so he would do well with high energy, high play drive, and well-socialized dogs. Henry would not be happy as an only dog in the house. Henry loves to play ball.
No small dogs or cats in his new home. Henry is very exuberant and should not be placed in a home with small children because he will knock them over. Henry does not know his strength, and he will settle down as he matures. Formal training is definitely required for Henry, and he will do well with an adopter that is versed in working breeds. Henry is housetrained. He knows basic commands and is eager to learn more. He's a smart, loyal, and loving dog.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
