JAX
Jax
BREED: BORDER COLLIE
COLOR: RED & WHITE
WEIGHT: 51 LBS.
GENDER: MALE - NEUTERED
AGE: 8 YRS.

Jax is a handsome, red and white, rough coat, male Border Collie. He just turned 8 years old, but looks and acts younger than his age. At most times, Jax has a more laid back personality compared to most Border Collies and would rather lay around the house to rest and ask for belly rubs; but, when he’s in the mood, he’ll play fetch with his squeaky ball or with his stuffed toys. He would be a perfect companion for a family who wants a quiet, loving pet with good house manners. We found Jax at a Los Angeles animal shelter. He was a little shy at first, but it became obvious to us that he loves people. He’s great with new people and loves everyone he meets, however, he finds small children a bit intimidating, so he would be a better fit for older families. I would recommend homes with no children under 12 years of age.

Jax also loves to take walks, but initially pulled on the leash, although he’s getting better with training. It seems that he has not been socialized with other dogs, so he needs someone who understands that for most of his life, he was the only dog in the family, so he finds it hard to share his space. When he sees another dog or hears another dog bark, he becomes anxious and will be excitable. A home with a secure yard with high fences would work best for Jax, although he prefers being indoors. Overall, Jax is a lovable and loyal dog. We’ve been working with him with different commands such as “come”, “sit”, “down”, “go” and most importantly, “no” to keep his mind stimulated. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! Jax is house trained, neutered, current on his vaccination, and has a micro-chip.

If you’re interested in meeting Jax, please contact Michelle at mestrellado@mac.com or (310) 633-0908. Jax is located in Woodland Hills, Ca. There is a re-homing fee of $100 and will be donated back to Border Collies in Need.
