JJ
Meet JJ, short for John John. JJ is a male 1 year old BC mix, probably with a bit of hound. JJ was originally an owner surrender to BCIN and was well taken care of and loved. JJ was subsequently adopted from BCIN and was recently returned to BCIN. JJ can be a bit nervous and can be nippy if he is unsure of the situation. He needs a home that does not have a lot of stimulating activity and would be best suited for a home that does not have kids.

JJ’s back story is that he was adopted from the SDHS at about 11 weeks old. His breed ID was labeled as a Brittany Spaniel. Surprise, no Brittany in this boy! JJ is a Hurricane Harvey survivor who was lucky enough to be chosen as a “second chance” pup to come to their organization. JJ is well trained, has good house manners, and knows his obedience. The reason he was surrendered is that he was too active and his owner could not keep up with his activity level. She had no idea that she was adopting a BC, until he started to mature. JJ has typical yearling energy for his age.

JJ did come to BCIN with severe allergies and he is currently on a medication called Apoquel that has done wonders. He was missing alot of hair and his skin was quite raw in some places. He looks marvelous now, and his hair has grown back and his coat is glossy. JJ should be on a grain free diet and we have him on one that is fish based.

JJ is the life of the party. He acts just like an ole Marmaduke with the 5 adolescent pups that are currently in our program. They are all so cute together and they follow him around like a big brother. He doesn’t mind when all of they all gang up on him and pester him.

JJ is a wonderful dog. He is well socialized with people and dogs alike. Sometimes he can be vocal when he wants your attention. He will need exercise, as he is still active. He probably would like another dog in his life, so that he can play off some of his energy. His adopter will need to monitor his allergies and be committed to continuing his medication and feeding him a grain free diet.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
