LANEY
Laney
UPDATE:
Laney has been tentatively accepted as a canine candidate into the program for National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (NDSDF).  She will go through 2 weeks of initial evaluation and training (boot camp) to see if she has the "right stuff" to save lives during a natural disaster.  There are several levels of evaluation and training, and we will keep you posted of her progress on the BCIN website.

If Laney does not pass any of her level training, she will be returned to BCIN and re-enter the BCIN rescue program.  At that point, she would be available for adoption.  Should this happen, whoever adopts her will be getting a dog that has advanced training worth thousands of dollars.

Border Collies is one of the breeds that NDSDF actively recruits into their program--talk about giving a BC the ultimate job to do!  Please click below to learn more about NDSDF and the work they do that is so vital in saving lives during a natural disaster or terrorist attack.

Search Dog Foundation
Laney is a one-year-old purebred female Border Collie.  A very pretty girl with a semi rough coat, and intense amber eyes as you can see, she weighed 31.6 pounds on the day of her spay.  She is very athletic.

Laney's activity level is medium to high.  Exercised properly, she does have an off button and will settle nicely in the house.  She adores ball and will also play frisbee.  She was placed in a competitive frisbee home but was not as obsessive as the handler wanted.  She would be great for someone who enjoys the sport, but not requiring the highest level winner.

She is keen to work and has some grip to her.  We feel she would make a fine cow dog trained up proper.  She has the biggest heart and tons of work ethic.  Her dominance has mostly shown when another dog gets in her way while she is working, or too far up her backside (herding her).  This is completely understandable and must be frustrating to have her concentration broken.

This girl is a water fanatic.  Hose end, spray, sprinklers....it it is moving, she is on it.  She is very affectionate when removed from the action, but in typical BC female style, if there is business (activity) to attend to, she will be there.  Nothing about this girl is BC lite.  She needs a handler with a decent amount of BC experience.  Laney is an awesome little dog and the BC aficionado will really appreciate her spunk and high spirit.
