Lars is a purebred 3 year old Australian Shepherd. Lars is a strikingly handsome light red merle tri-color with the most spectacular odd colored amber and baby blue eyes. He is a smaller Aussie male, only weighing about 35 lbs with lower medium energy. Lars has become the apple of his foster home's eye and we would love to keep him, but we know our limit. Lars is a little shy and timid upon first meeting him, but once he gets to know and trust you, what a lover boy he is! He has a way of looking at you with those amazing eyes as if telling you that he is ready to forge that close bond and trust you completely. He has been in this foster home for a short time, but already he has settled into the routine--it's as if he's always been here (he's been a perfect houseguest). Lars is great with other dogs (small or large), but appears to be quite curious about my dog-tormenting cats, who delight in teasing him. He will call off and settle down next to my less energetic cats, but he would need consistent training and his adopter would need to exercise continuous caution if he were to be adopted with cats. He would be fine with older children, but sudden movements and noise from small children makes him somewhat nervous. Lars walks well on a leash, and loves to go for rides in cars. He has learned some basic commands and appears to be housebroken. Lars enjoys being part of a pack and being with his foster humans, so he should be adopted into a home with another dog or with someone who works part time from home. Lars loves to snuggle up next to you and he is his happiest when he is laying on the bed next to you. Typical of Aussies, Lars craves human interaction and would make a marvelous canine best friend candidate. | | |
