LINC
Linc
Meet Linc.  Linc is a year old male Border Collie Mix.  His nose is shorter, so perhaps he is mixed with Aussie.  He is black and white with a semi rough coat.  Linc was an owner surrender to the shelter in Needles because he kept getting out of his yard as he would jump over a 4 foot fence.  Standard fencing of 5 ½ to 6 feet should be sufficient for him.

Linc had quite a bit of energy when I started to foster him.  After a couple days of allowing him to settle in, he is turning into a very well behaved dog.  Linc likes to lay down and rest his head on my lap while watching television or when it's hot, he likes to lie down on the cold tile.  Linc still needs regular walks and exercise to keep him calm.  Linc gets to run around the dog park for about 1 1 ½ hours, and that seems to be enoough for him as he calms down and lounges in front of the fan or comes and lay down next to my chair.  He gets another short walk at night and is good until the next day.

Linc is well socialized as he does get along with the other dogs in the program and does enjoy playing with them.  Linc also likes being chased and wrestle.  He still does not show any interest in tennis balls, but he might like the Frisbee, as he chases some of the dogs at the park that play frisbee.

Linc will require additional obedience training.  Linc is housebroken and will go to the backdoor when he needs to go out.  So far Linc has learned to sit, shake, and sits in front of you and waits calmly for you to put on a leash to go out.  He is crate trained and will go in the crate when told to do so.  He is getting better on walking on a leash, but once he sees the park he starts to pull but he stops when corrected.

Linc probably would not be a good home where there is small children as he will knock them over.  Sometimes when he is excited, he can nip, but it is not out of aggression.

Linc is a really sweet dog who is looking for a home that is active.  He would make an excellent hiking and walking partner.  It appears that Linc was a backyard dog and was not properly trained by his previous owner.  He wants to please, so with some consistent training, Linc should make a fine and loyal canine companion.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
