Meet Lucian. Lucian is a 3 year old male tri colored smooth coated male. Lucian came to BCIN from a high desert shelter where there is very little public adoption interest, so he required rescue intervention.
Upon first meeting Lucian, he was outgoing and affectionate with our volunteer. He was also a favorite at the vet's office, where he immediately attached himself to the vet tech there. He constantly is seeking affection, and loves to be doted upon. Lucian is the type of dog that wants to forge an immediate and close bond with his person. If you like Velcro dogs, then Lucian is your new canine best friend candidate.
Lucian appears to have had some basic obedience. Some of his manners need fine tuning, as he does tend to jump up on you. He does walk well on a leash. We do believe that Lucian has good house manners.
Lucian does get along with other dogs, however, he can grouse at other dogs when first meeting them, however, he does like to be around other dogs, once properly introduced. Lucian would make a great only dog for someone who can only have one dog, but he can be placed in a multi dog household. Lucian loves being showered with attention and affection. Lucian is quite vocal about wanting attention, but he is not an incessant barker.
The type of home that is recommended for Lucian is an active home. He's energetic, and he needs more than the 20 minute daily walk. Needs a person who is committed to doing additional training and providing mental stimulation. All in all, Lucian is a nice dog who will be loyal to you.
