MOLLY
Molly
My name is Rebekah.  I picked up a stray dog late September who was in terrible shape.  She was filthy, she smelled, was limping, frail, malnourished and scared.  Since then we've tried to nurse her back to health.  She's now at a healthy weight and she looks great.  She was treated for whip worms, giardia, fleas, and has been microchipped and spayed.

I started searching for a home for Molly and realized that although she is a great family dog in our home, because of her background she doesn't make a good first impression to potential adopters.  She is distrusting of humans.  Her humans likely teased and taunted her, abused her and starved her.  She growls at potential adopters and runs away scared.  It's been a deterrent almost immediately for families, especially with children.  We have 5 children and she has been wonderful with ours, but it took time.  She loves other dogs and likes being a part of a pack.  Our dog has been instrumental in teaching her that she can trust us.

I am unsure of Molly's breed but have been told she is a border collie or a border collie mix.  She is 48 pounds and almost all black.  The vet thinks she is about 1-2 years old and had already had at least 1 litter of puppies before we spayed her.

We cannot keep her permanently.  My husband does not want a second dog.  Our cat in the home has not been adjusting well to Molly.  She used to be very social but now she hides a good part of the day, is losing weight, and started using the bathroom outside her little box.  I had hoped to pick Molly off the street to get her the care she needed and help her find a family, but I'm coming up against some obstacles I don't have experience overcoming.  Would you consider helping Molly?  Molly needs a family who is willing to give her a second chance and has some experience in rehabilitation.
