Nakita is a Border Collie mix weighing 55 pounds. On her age we have a conundrum. She was an "owner dog" at the shelter. That means they knew who owned her and contacted them. The records state that she is 4 years old. Sadly for Nakita, her people did not come for her even though they said they would. BCIN stepped in and took her, as she was running out of time. Upon examining her teeth, our vet estimates her age to be between 8-10 years and that is what shows on the vetting paperwork we have for her. Could she be just 4? We do know that genetics as well as diet play a huge role in a dogs teeth, so it is possible. We put this information out so you can decide for yourselves.
Nakita certainly doesn't act like an 8-10 year-old lady. She loves to play and chase balls. She will even self entertain by tossing her ball for herself, though we are sure she would prefer to have her own human to play with. Her activity level is low to medium and she would be a great dog for the first time BC owner.
Nakita gets along well with all the fosters. She has been incredibly kind to the puppies and very gentle in her corrections. Untested on children at this time, however based on her behavior we feel she will be great with kids.
Nakita is such a sweet girl and she certainly deserves much more than her former owners provided. Are you the one to pamper this lovely soul?
