OSCAR
Oscar
Meet Oscar.  Oscar is a very handsome male 2.5 year old border collie.  He weighs in at about 52 lbs., and we are not sure if he is purebred, but he is predominantly BC.

Oscar's story is a bit of a sad one with a good ending now that he is in rescue.  Most likely Oscar was dumped by his careless previous owner to fend for himself in the High Desert, even though he was at risk of being attacked by coyotes and other wildlife.  He had been living on his own since Dec. 2014, and it has taken a year to get Oscar socialized and trust people so that he could be approached.  We have been told that he hunted and brought home rabbits to the home he was hanging out at.  The good Samaritan that took care of him this past year contacted BCIN to see if we would be interested in taking him into our rescue program.  Of course we could not resist and we welcomed Oscar into our rescue program with open arms.

What a transition that has occurred with Oscar's temperament over the last year.  He is fine being around people, and has been around younger children.  He is also socialized with other dogs.  Oscar is crated trained, however, he will need fencing that is over 6', as he can clear a 6' fence.  Obviously, at this point, Oscar is not housebroken, as he has been an outside dog.  His new home is going to need to be committed in helping him with his house manners and potty training.  Oscar has overcome his past ordeal with no trauma, and will make some lucky person a nice canine companion.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
