PHOEBE

Phoebe
Phoebe (2 years of age and 27 pounds BC mix) has been known as the Community Dog.  She has been in the area for at least 1 year and likely was a family pet.  After capturing her pups she was enticed to the backyard and allowed me to pet her.  Since then her pups have been placed in foster care.  Phoebe would have gone with them, but after being taken to the local Shelter she became aggressive toward the handlers and was not going to be released.  The original foster people requested her back as they knew she was a gentle and loving little girl and would keep her until a permanent family was found.

Phoebe enjoys being social with people and all dog-friendly animals.  She should have regular exercise to be most happy.  The foster family said she goes on 2 daily walks for a mile each time, but the real fun begins when she can chase other dogs and be chased.  When she's not playing she relishes in the family life.  She does enjoy being outside if you are outside, but if you go to work she'll be fine till you get home.  Phoebe will respect your garden and home possessions.  She is house broken and walks fairly well on the leash.

Still learning to trust people outside of the foster home.  She is being introduced to many people to help her along with her trust issues.  Until she is more comfortable, this dog will need to be approached slowly so as not to intimidate her.  She is a good protector, but does not bark at everything.  Will growl at mailmen and those in uniform.  While she isn't a "needy girl" she does appreciate your company and play dates to burn off her energy.  She is a pleasure to watch playing with other dogs and serves as good entertainment.

While awaiting to be adopted, the foster parents will work on her commands, her timid behavior and odd reluctance to enter through doorways.

Phoebe is located in the city of Riverside, CA. She has a microchip and is spayed.
