ROSALEE
Rosalee
Meet Rosalee. Rosalee is a 4-6 year old female Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix. Rosalee came into rescue as a medical needs dog with a dislocated hip and infected bite wounds on her rear legs. The bite wounds have healed and she has recently recovered from FHO surgery to repair her hip. Rosalee’s adopters need to be fully committed to continued daily walks and simple exercises to continue to strengthen her leg and hip muscles. Rosalee will not be suitable for very active adopters wanting a dog to hike and run with them. Dog beach and dog park may prove too much big world exposure currently, but she may love them in the future.

Rosalee has a very sweet and kind personality and loves people, but children under 10 years old are not in her future. Rosalee has gotten along with her foster brother, but tends to be a dominant female and would prefer to be the only dog. She finds her foster cat interesting but has not shown aggression. Rosalee is a bigger girl at 57 pounds. She walks well on a harness, and needs the support of a harness when out in the world to guide her through frightening situations and enable control of a larger dog.

Rosalee is a low to medium energy dog, but is not happy being outside any longer than necessary to go for a walk and potty. This is due to her frightening life before coming into rescue. With lots of love and encouragement, Rosalee will become more confident in her inside and outside surroundings. Rosalee would love to just be your best friend, and craves all the love, attention and belly rubs you can provide and she will return the love two-fold. She would greatly benefit from her adopters being home a lot to bond with her and continue her reintroduction to our big, scary world. Formal obedience training will help her confidence. Rosalee is house trained and currently needs to be on a leash when outside for potty breaks.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
