Willow is a Border/Aussie mix born on January 18, 2016. She is about 45 lbs and not only beautiful but super smart. She would love to find a home with a patient dog savvy person who understands her breed. Willow had a rough start and is NOT going to be an easy dog initially, so it's important to read this detailed information to assess if she is a good fit for you.

This poor girl spent her first year and 4 months with her former person who did not socialize her and hardly walked her. At first meeting, she did a lot of barking (fear bark) with strangers (especially men) making eye contact with her or walking towards her. She also lunged towards young children running around (could be herding) and some taller men who tried to approach her handler. She does MUCH better when people ignore her. For that reason, she is not the type of dog you can take everywhere with you. It took a week for her to get used to her new foster home, the dogs in the home and the routine.

Exercising her and getting her started on "nosework" is helping her settle in. She is super affectionate and loyal now BUT still not great with other people on walks. She has a lot of potential, but needs a very dog savvy home who is familiar with her breed and should likely not be in a home with children at this time. She can be destructive when left alone (chewed the corner of a wooden chair when left for 6 hours once) and may bark until she is familiar with her routine and surroundings. She is housetrained. She is very alert and will take naps here and there and does bark and howl very loudly, so an apartment or condo could be problematic. Finally, she CANNOT be left in a yard with fencing less than 6-7 ft high, as she is VERY agile and would find a way to clear it. She can jump a 4 ft gate back and forth without touching the top...

If you are up for a challenge and you are still interested in meeting her, please contact ryoko.matsui.310@gmail.com.
