Border Collies In Need

Adoption Application Form
Border Collies In Need's ultimate goal is to adopt our dogs into secure, forever, and loving homes in a timely manner and to give them every opportunity to be seen by applicants.  We recommend that you submit an application even if you do not see a particular Border Collie that interests you at the time of submittal, as dogs are continuously entering into our rescue program.  BCIN will acknowledge your application by e-mail, usually within 48 hours after submittal.  If you have not received a response in that time frame, please check your SPAM folder or contact us.  Once you see that special canine that catches your eye, please contact us at Rescue@BorderColliesInNeed.org.

Please keep in mind that certain dog behaviors and temperament may not be appropriate for your lifestyle environment for a specific dog in which you are interested.  Once an application has been reviewed for suitability and it appears to be a potential match, an appointment then is scheduled for a "Meet and Greet".  In a case where there are one or more applications that are suitable for a particular dog, then the order in which the applications were received will be the determining factor.  The interview process continues at the "Meet and Greet".  Applicants will be asked additional questions and observed on how well they (and any other dogs they may have) interact with the BC they are considering as an addition to their family.  Additionally, it is equally important to observe how well the dog interacts with the applicant.

"Meet and Greets" are scheduled by appointment only.  Since most of our dogs are located throughout Southern California, the majority of our appointments will be conducted in that area or in the city of the foster home.  If you have previously submitted an application and you are planning to attend one of our adoption events, please be advised that BCIN will not hold dogs, as this would not be in the dog's best interest.  If timing permits, BCIN, at its discretion, may schedule appointments at events prior to, or right at the beginning of the event start time.

Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption.  Final adoption approval is at the sole discretion of BCIN.  A home check, pictures of your home, yard, fencing, gates, and where the dog will sleep are encouraged and may be required.

Adopting a dog from Border Collies In Need is a lifetime commitment.  The continued welfare and safety of the dogs that are adopted from our rescue program are a priority.  Adopters sign an agreement in the form of an adoption contract ensuring the well being and safety of the dog over their lifetime.  If the safety or the health of an adopted dog has been compromised because of noncompliance, it is BCIN's policy to remove the dog from harm's way.  BCIN will determine the best course of action by always keeping the dog's best interest as the priority.
