| CASSIE | |
 |
Cassie is a happy go lucky 1 year-old female black and white Standard Collie/BC mix. Her coat is more of that of a semi rough coated BC rather than that of a Collie. She is a lovely dog that weighs in at about 50 lbs., however, her right weight should be around 60 lbs. Cassie came into rescue quite underweight and neglected. She is steadily gaining weight and she has been groomed, although she did not like being bathed.
Although Cassie was a bit nervous at first upon entering our program, but that has all gone away now that she has settled into her foster home. Cassie is a tall dog who will mature into a gentle giant. Her energy level is appropriate for her age and it is her foster mom’s belief that she will settle down this next year. She is still very puppy like, does not know that she is a big girl, and acts like a gawky teenager. She is a soft dog when it comes to commands and is a big baby. She craves being with other dogs, as she puts up quite a fuss and is vocal when she is separated from the pack. As a result, she cannot be placed as an only dog. She loves romping and playing with the her foster siblings and looks like such a clown playing with her serious BC foster siblings. Cassie seems to be fine around cats. Because of her size, a home with older children is preferred, as she could easily knock over toddlers. She does not have a mean bone in her body, has a sweet temperament, and is so very affectionate. Cassie wants to forge a bond with another dog and her person. She just loves attention showered upon her. Cassie will crate under protest, and could use some obedience. Her leash training continues to improve. Cassie wants nothing more to please you, but needs some guidance to show her what is expected of her.
Because of her size, one tends to forget that she is still a puppy. Cassie is housebroken, and sleeps in the house at night, however, make sure that you put away your shoes before you go to bed. Adopters must be committed to working with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy. As with all puppies, socialization and obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well-behaved, and well-adjusted adult dog in your family. Cassie will make a fine loyal canine companion and would make a great family dog. |
