DUO MI
Duo Mi
Meet Duo Mi. Duo Mi is a 3-4 year old female border collie (she could be a mix). Duo Mi was rescued from the streets of Shanghai, China by good Samaritans, TingTing and her mom, Rose. They networked with Los Santos Rescue in Shanghai who contacted BCIN and asked if we would take her in. Arrangements were made to fly her to LAX, where our founder, Suzanne, picked her up on June 10th. Another male BC, Rex, was also rescued and flown to the US, along with 3 Golden Retreivers, and a Beagle. The foster families posed for a photo with the dogs in their crates at the airport in Shanhai.

BCIN has been in contact with TingTing, and this is Duo Mi's touching story. Dogs have little or no chance of being adopted after they are rescued. Many are slated for the meat trade if they end up in a shelter.

Dogs have little or no chance of being adopted after they are rescued. Many are slated for the meat trade if they end up in a shelter. To rescue here is hard. Every rescuer spends lots of time and put lots of effort and money to make a better life for the dogs. They are all our babies. We feel pain when they leave us, but it’s all for their happiness and future.

When I found Duo Mi she had no hair, suffering from skin diseases, and her tummy was very large. I thought she was pregnant. Duo Mi was an abandoned stray. When I opened the car’s door, she hopped in and she sat on the floor mat.

After I took her to the veterinary hospital, the doctor said that she had been eating contaminated and toxic food for a long time. Her stool was full of mud and bone. However, she recovered in four months with treatment and recuperation. Her pathological report is back to normal. She has become a healthy border collie.

Duo Mi’s name is taken from a buddhist scriptures "THE HEART OF PRAJNA PARAMITA SUTRA — when Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara was practicing the profound Prajna Paramita, he illuminated the Five Skandhas and saw that they are all empty, and he crossed beyond all suffering and difficulty.” The meaning of her name is to cross all suffering to start a new life, have a good future and happiness. She has it now! I'm glad she has such a good future.

Look at this beauty now. Duo Mi obviously is crate trained and travels well. She is sweet and affectionate and loves to be the center of attention. Duo Mi can be placed as an only dog, and probably would prefer it so she can have all of your attention. She is also a talker and will "woo-woo" to you when she wants attention. She will make some lucky person a great canine companion. She has nice house manners and knows some of her basic obedience.

She also walks well on a leash. However, Duo Mi is a bit sensitive to engine sounds from motorcycles and cars, and she might try to chase them. So, you will need to pay attention to the leash when walking her.

Duo Mi is a dominant and bossy female, however, she does get along with other dogs. She just wants to be the alpha. She has been known to resource guard her food with other dogs, understandably, so she will need to be fed separate from another dog. Because of this, Duo Mi can not be placed in a home with small children. She does not show food resource guarding with people.

Duo Mi was provided proper veterinarian care while in Shanghai. In order for her to be eligible for international travel, she required an executed International Health Certificate.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
