Jaxx is an 18-24 month-old male black and white Border Collie/Lab mix with a smooth coat. Jaxx’s head has the confirmation of a Lab, while the rest of him looks BC. Jaxx is a taller male and weighs in at about 50 lbs.
Jaxx came to us via shelter and was a stray. Although he was in no danger at the shelter of being euthanized, there was overcrowding and Jaxx was regulated to a vari-kennel in a hall with little or no exercise during the day. Shelter personnel asked us if we had room for him and the rest is history.
Jaxx is an obedient dog who knows his basic commands. He is so happy to see you that he very often will let out a loud woo woo to greet you. Jaxx loves to run around and play with his foster siblings. He can be a bit of a fence fighter. He is a dominant male, and although he does get along with the other males in foster care, there has been one that he does not like. Based on this observation, opposite gender placement is recommended unless the other male is submissive. Jaxx requires activity in his life, as he would make an excellent running or hiking partner. He is fine on a leash, and is crate trained without any potty incidents. Crate training is about 75% towards housebreaking, so Jaxx should end up with nice house manners once he knows what is expected of him.
Jaxx can be a bit exuberant, so he should be supervised around young children to make sure that he does not knock them over. Jaxx is very food motivated, therefore, further training or obedience will be easy. He craves interaction with his person, and will be one of those dogs that will pretty much do anything that you ask of him, especially if there are treats involved! Jaxx has a very nice personality and his temperament can be characterized as affectionate and easy going.
