MICKEY
Mickey
Mickey and Pepper are darling 8-month-old male brothers.  They are BC mixed pups, most likely with Spaniel.  They were relinquished by their owner to a high kill shelter and they were at risk of being euthanized as there was no adoption interest in them.  The rescue community advocated extensively on their behalf, and how could Border Collies In Need resist them?  Upon entering our program, they were sick, fearful, very timid, and skin and bones.  They both are now healthy, steadily gaining weight, and their silky black and white coats are starting to glisten.

Mickey and Pepper can still be a bit timid upon first meeting them, but warm up to you quickly.  Once they know you, they are very affectionate and want lots of attention.  Mickey is bit more timid than Pepper, who is more outgoing and adventurous.  They are now happy-go-lucky pups, and would benefit with further obedience training.  They can be a bit much when learning their lessons together, but individually, they mind very well and want to learn.  They are typical youngsters, and would rather play than learn their lessons.  They have learned to walk on a leash, ride in a car, and some very basic obedience commands.  Mickey and Pepper are crate trained and have had no potty accidents in them.  This is about 75% towards housebreaking, so they should be a cinch to train.  They were curious about my cat, and showed no aggression when they met.  I was holding her and they came up and just sniffed and then backed off.  Since they are rambunctious older pups and would probably chase if a cat ran, so more training to acclimate them to cats is necessary.

They can be placed together or separately, but at this point, they would not be best placed as an only dog, unless their human worked from home part of the time.  Pepper and Mickey get along well with other dogs.

Adopters must be committed to working with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents.  As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must.  This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well-behaved, and well-adjusted adult dog in your family.
