Meet Phoenix. Phoenix is an 8 month male red and white Border Collie.
After entering our rescue program from the shelter, we noticed that Phoenix had a slight limp. The vet confirmed that Phoenix is going to require Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery. FHO surgery removes the ball portion of the hip joint. It is a salvage procedure that creates a "false joint" from scar tissue. Prognosis for a full recovery is excellent.
Phoenix is having FHO surgery on 25 February 2026. He is currently available for adoption, but his adopter must be commited to his rehabilitation post surgery. Typical recovery time takes about 6 weeks, requiring rehabilitation to regain full mobility.
He's very sweet, affectionate, and loves to cuddle. Well socialized, Phoenix enjoys the company of other dogs and people, including kids. He has not been evaluated with cats. Basic obedience started, Phoenix walks well on a leash, has nice house manners, and is crate trained.
Phoenix is one great pup with a fantastic temperament who is a K-9 BFF candidate.
