SAMMIE
Sammie

SAMMIE is a beautiful, petite, and timid pure-bred traditionally marked Black and White Border Collie with a semi rough coat.  She is approximately 18 months of age and picked up as a stray in the Inland Empire.  Sammie is absolutely crazy for water and will splash and play in her water dish or any other puddle or source of water she can find.

Sammie is very agile, crate trained and will jump to a top stacked crate if asked.  She has not had any 'accidents' in the house, but, is not left unattended for any long periods of time.  She walks on a leash very quietly, not pulling and is very respectful of her companion.  Sammie is a submissive girl, who does not do well with loud noises, harsh discipline or over the top-rambunctious dogs.  You will find Sammie nearby at all times, happy to lay at your feet or stroll through the neighborhood, as long as she is with you.

A 'perfect' home for Sammie would be the near constant companion of a female owner as she prefers women; with other easy-going stable dogs to give her the confidence that comes by living in a pack.  Sammie may also do well as an only dog of a confident owner.  Sammie does not engage in 'play' with children, but, is not fearful of them either and would do best with children in the 'teen' years who have been taught to be respectful of a timid dog and not overwhelm her.  Sammie has shown no interest in herding activity or in the cats at her foster home.

Sammie is just now starting to come out of her shell, getting very excited when addressed and the other dogs are playing.  With time, patience and the right loving home, Sammie can be your 'HEART DOG' - the One Great Love of Your Lifetime.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
