Welcome!
TREY
Lacey
Trey is a 2-2˝ year old red & white male Border Collie.  BCIN has had only a few purebred red and whites and Trey sure is a handsome boy who will catch the eye of many.  Trey came to us very underweight, but is putting on weight nicely (he didn’t eat much at the shelter - although they tried - but he’s eating like a champ now).  He is a very tall boy, with gorgeous amber eyes, a very long coat (that will only get more luxurious as he continues to eat a high quality diet) and he has the most gorgeous fluffy tail ever.

Trey loves people and is a very affectionate and loving dog.  He is also somewhat needy.  While he doesn’t need to be with you every single minute (he will go off on his own quite nicely), he really prefers to be right there next to you - and that often entails a whole lot of head petting, ear-rubbing and kissing.  Trey has no problems warming up to strangers and walks very nicely on leash.  He also rides very well in a car and will sleep wherever you ask him to – and if that happens to be with you, he is quite the champion snuggler.  We are working on his house manners and he is coming along nicely.  Trey happens to be one of those highly admired dogs dogs that simply does not bark.  His foster mom has only heard him bark twice and that was at the lawn mower.

While in the shelter, Trey was tested on cats and he appeared to be somewhat afraid of them.  He does well with fireworks.  He is also very omega and should not be placed with a dominate male.  We are recommending Trey be placed in a home with another dog, or if no other dog in the home, a human who works from home or is retired is a must, only because he does suffer from a tiny bit of separation anxiety.  Trey loves other dogs, but his heart will always lead him back to his master.  He is the type of dog that bonds within minutes and is extremely appreciative and adoring.  Trey became somewhat shut down during his last week in the shelter, so it’s been very fulfilling for his foster mom to show him how easy and good life can be.

Lastly, Trey absolutely loves water – he is quite comical with the water hose and the sprinklers and my guess would be he would be thrilled to have his very own swimming pool.  Trey has been tested on children age 7+ and was excellent with them.  Due to his gentleness, we would imagine he would do very well with little ones.  He is a total best friend candidate and would make an incredible all-around family dog.

Update: After I wrote this, Trey did an “Ahrroo roo roo” to my female Kirby; so maybe he might be a little bit of a talker after all.
