ATHENA
Athena
Athena is a sweet, loving, one-year-old, beautifully marked, traditional purebred Border Collie female who will follow you around all day if you let her.  Don’t let her devastatingly gorgeous looks fool you.  She is extremely high energy.

Athena knows basic commands (i.e. sit, lay down, off) and learns quickly.  Her behavior with the other dogs in her foster home shows that she is a dominant female.  Athena needs to be in a home that has lots of time to spend with her, and who can give her a “job”.  She would be an excellent candidate for agility, canine sports or, possibly, herding

Although she is quite beautiful and very smart, Athena is also quite a handful.  She requires a person who can channel all of her energy in a positive way so that she does not become destructive.  She also needs someone who can work with her on socialization.  Athena was an owner turn in at the shelter and it is unclear if her fearful behavior with people is due to her shelter experience or lack of socialization as a puppy, but once she understands you aren’t going to harm her she will be your best buddy.  She just needs someone who has the time and knowledge to work with her on how to greet new people properly.  Athena needs a person who will continuously assume an alpha role, as she can be quite cunning and manipulative.  She does not want to be the alpha, but she will take over your household if you allow her.

Athena will make a fabulous canine companion, as long as you thoroughly understand what makes this breed tick.  We are only accepting applications for Athena from adopters that have extensive experience with the Border Collie breed.
