RUBY TUESDAY |
 |
Meet Ruby Tuesday. Ruby is 18 - 24 months old female red and white smooth coated Lab/ McNab mix. She's really sweet and still has lots of puppy-like energy. Her photos don't do her justice, as she doesn't like to sit still to be photographed. Ruby is much better looking in person.
Ruby came to via BCIN as a special favor from the shelter. She was used as an evaluation dog for temperament testing for new intakes at the shelter. Sadly, Ruby did not generate any adoption interest, so she was slated for euthanization. Shelter staff loved her and asked us to intervene to save her life. How could we resist? Ruby does have a really nice temperament. Her only fault is that she can climb and jump a 6' chain link fence. So, she can't be placed in a home with any chain link, no matter the height. We also feel that she should not be placed as only dog, unless her new owner is home a good part of the time. She really seems to enjoy being with another dog or her person.
She's socialized with other dogs and adores people (also likes tummy rubs). Ruby is rambunctious and will need a very active household to channel her energy. Because of her exuberance, she's not well suited to be in a home with small children -not because she is aggressive, but she could knock them over. Ruby is good on the leash, and she does know basic obedience commands. She will ride in a crate in the car.
To be her family, you must be committed to work with the destruction and/or energy associated with raising a young adult dog. As with all dogs, socialization and obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that I will be an outgoing, socialized, well-behaved, and well-adjusted dog in your family.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
